His tenure at Ceramic of Lota lasted from 1949 to 1952. He arrived at the factory to work as a designer and decorator. Mention should be made that he, along with other supervisors, directed the women responsible for the hand-painted decoration and painting. Outside of work hours and during excursions and tours of Pueblo Hundido and nearby beaches such as Chivilingo, Playa Blanca, and Colcura, among others, he created watercolor and oil paintings, croquis, and sketches. His life’s most significant events began in Lota.
- In 1953, he traveled to Europe after receiving a scholarship through a competition to study ceramics at the Richard Gironi State School, Sesto Fiorentino, in Florence, Italy.
- Extend this journey for an additional year so that restorations and embellishments can be made to the Les Petit Foucault Chapel in Charleroi, Belgium.
- In the 1960s, he met Liliana Figueroa, whom he married in 1966 and remained married to until his death in December 1984. Paula and Eugenio Alonso, his children with her, were born in Viña del Mar in 1967 and 1971, respectively.
