- In 1964, he was sent to Mexico by the University of Concepción, together with the painter Albino Echeverra. He meets Mexican muralist Jorge González Camarena and joins his crew there. They collaborated on two murals, “Races,” which is placed in the National Museum of Anthropology in Chapultepec, Mexico City, and “Coatlicue,” which is located in the Museum of Art in Cuernavaca. He meets and befriends David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, and Manuel Felguérez throughout his stay.
- Back in Chile, in November, they began work on the mural in the House of Art with a crew led by Master Jorge González Camarena.
- They completed the mural “Presence of Latin America” after five months of unbroken work, which was inaugurated in September 1965 with the highest authorities from both Mexico and Chile. According to the plaque on the right side of the mural, the team consisted of the following artists: Salvador Almaraz, Manuel Guillén Javier Arévalo, the three Mexicans, and Chilean painters Albino Echeverra and Eugenio Brito.
- He went back to Mexico for a second time in 1969 and 1970 after the Mexican government requested to see his easel work. He exhibits his work at the O.P.I.C. (Organization for the International Promotion of Culture) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Mexico City and the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City.
