Eugenio Brito Honorato assumed the role of Director of the Art School at the University of Concepción upon his return to the city in 1976. He maintained this position until 1980. Following his returning, he incorporated the role with pedagogical responsibilities pertaining to drawing and painting. He was influenced by Tole Peralta, a cherished companion and distinguished artist who supervised and directed the House of Art and the Pinacoteca of Concepción. In 1975, it is he who conducts the interview and extends the offer of director of the art school.
Art school administration was neither easy nor pleasurable during dictatorial periods. Contrary to the regime’s objectives, concepts were subject to censorship. Faculty members and pupils were missing. At the time, the atmosphere was fraught because of the authorities’ threats and generalized apprehension regarding free speech. He was content and discovered a sense of relief upon announcing his resignation from the role of director. He only desired time for teaching and painting.
